Brother Beat (2005)

Brother Beat is one of my most favorite drama series of all time. It's about the Sakurai family orphaned by their father while they were still very young, leaving only their eccentric mother, Haru (Tanaka Misako) to raise them. The three brothers, Tatsuya (Tamayama Tetsuji), Riku (Hayami Mokomichi), and Junpei (Nakao Akiyoshi), face each day with different viewpoints, but it is because of these differences that they can go through life's hardships and compensate each others' shortcomings.
Tatsuya, the eldest son, is a very responsible and handsome salary man. He still hasn't gotten over his past love and he isn't very good with women. He tends to say things so directly that he hurts others because of it. Riku, the middle child, is a fun-loving, life-of-the-party, goukon(group date) enthusiast. He believes he's not the type to be tied down to just one woman and ends ups being the somewhat irresponsible son. He works part-time as a swimming coach with Mizushima Hiro's character, Yoshi. The youngest, Junpei, is studying in nursing school. He's a great cook and does most of the household chores of the family. He's the kindest and he's the one who thinks of others' well-being rather than his own.
The actors really did a good job in this series, if I say so myself. I almost didn't recognize Tamayama Tetsuji because he looks completely different in BOSS! He reminded me so much of Miura Haruma and all throughout the series I kept on seeing him as Haruma's brother. I think they sound alike, too! Nakao Akiyoshi was brilliant, though I think he lacked a little something (or maybe it's just because of the character he's playing?). Mokomichi was awesome as always! The fights between the brothers were a little over the top, in my opinion, but I don't really know since I don't have a brother and I don't know how brothers actually fight. Hahaha :))))
It's a very funny and heart-warming series that I definitely recommend for everyone to watch.
